OIL & GAS: Conference to focus on opportunities in the upcoming production phase of the petroleum sector

By Betty Namubiru

Imagine stepping into a location where you can meet all the oil and gas executives and decision makers who are driving the oil and gas sector, where the industry’s best experts are sharing insights into what made them succeed and where you have sector leads ready to help guide you through how to tap into the numerous opportunities that are created by Uganda’s oil and gas sector.

The fifth Annual National Content Conference & Awards that is running from the 28th to 29th November 2024 will be that location.

This is the region’s most significant oil and gas National Content conference bringing a wealth of expertise harnessed over the years and will focus on sharing lesson learned, upcoming opportunities and finding solutions to industry challenges.

The conference will provide a one stop center where international oil companies, contractors, policy makers, financial institutions and local companies will come together under one roof to discuss opportunities to maximize national participation in the oil and gas sector.

Targeting the stakeholders across the entire oil and gas value chain, the fifth annual National Content Conference promises to be an experiential platform that creates a level ground for all companies supplying and interested in the oil and gas sector to converge and discuss upcoming opportunities for supplying the oil and gas sector, employment and skilling opportunities, technology transfer and the role of enterprise development in preparing companies to tap into the opportunities in Uganda’s oil and gas sector.

This year’s conference will focus on opportunities in the upcoming production phase of the oil and gas sector that has an estimated investment of USD 15 billion.

The conference will feature international oil companies sharing a breakdown of the opportunities that will be tendered and advertised over the next years to allow interested companies enough time to prepare.

Considering the great interest expressed to participate in the conference, it will be a hybrid event with both physical and virtual participants.

The Petroleum Authority of Uganda in collaboration with the Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum have done their homework, listened to and acted on feedback received from previous editions of the conference.

This year’s conference will have new content, leading experts including keynote speeches from the Chief Executive Officers of Petroleum Commission of Ghana and the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board(NCDMB), and exhibitors to provide participants with comprehensive experience in the sector.

The Fifth National Content Conference this time round offers a 3 in 1 experience that includes; a Conference, Exhibitions and National Content Awards. Exhibitors will have a unique platform to enhance their corporate profile and expand their market by showcasing their brands, products, and services to a much larger receptive audience of potential customers and decision-makers within the oil and gas sector and beyond.

The conference promises a platform that will enable business networking leading to strategic collaborations, show casing of opportunities and face-to-face contact during the networking cocktails.

And yes, we shall be launching the Joint Qualification System (JQS) which will be a step up from the National Supplier Database and we are hopefull that the JQS will improve timeliness and transparency during procurements in the Oil and Gas sector in Uganda.
