The Kyabazinga of Busoga, Dr. William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV, is set to officially open the highly anticipated 2025 Busoga Masaza Cup this Saturday, July 12. The grand ceremony will take place at Irundu Primary School in Budiope, Buyende District, marking the commencement of the 8th edition of the prestigious inter-county football tournament.
Confirmation of the royal presence and the meticulous preparations came from the Busoga Kingdom Sports Minister, Owekitibwa Amin Bbosa Nkono. Speaking to Busoga Times and Baba TV on Friday, Minister Bbosa expressed his satisfaction with the organizing committee’s work and assured the public of a secure and festive environment.
“Security is tight, fans are ready, and we’re set to welcome His Majesty,” Bbosa affirmed, highlighting the comprehensive measures taken to ensure a smooth and memorable opening ceremony. His statement underscores the kingdom’s commitment to making this year’s tournament a significant success.
The opening ceremony will be followed by a thrilling encounter at 3 PM, featuring hosts Budiope taking on Bukono.
