Obwa Tabingwa Bwa Luuka, in partnership with Enkaana Development Initiative Luuka, on Saturday joined the National Cleaning Day activities with a community cleaning exercise targeting key public facilities in Luuka District.
The exercise covered Luuka District Headquarters, Kiyunga Health Centre IV and Kiyunga Market, as part of efforts to promote environmental cleanliness, public health and community responsibility.

The activity was officially flagged off by Owek. Kaima Godfrey, the Katukiiro of Obwa Tabingwa Bwa Luuka, who led participants in the exercise.
Among those who took part were Badhebye Isaac, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Enkaana Development Initiative; Owek. Babita, Minister of Environment and Works; Owek. Percy, Minister of Agriculture; and other ministers of Obwa Tabingwa Bwa Luuka.

Also present were Nantale Nasabu, Luuka District Education Officer (DEO); Hon. Kafuko Peter Mulyandawo, Luuka District LCV Chairperson; and Nangobi Hidaya, Assistant District Health Officer (ADHO) for Luuka District.
The participation of cultural leaders, development partners, district officials and community stakeholders highlighted the importance of collective action in maintaining clean and healthy public spaces.

By extending the cleaning exercise to administrative offices, a health facility and a market, the partners underscored the need to make environmental cleanliness a shared responsibility across communities.
The initiative also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between cultural institutions, civil society organisations and local government in promoting sanitation and environmental protection in Luuka District.
