Budiope East Member of Parliament, Magogo Moses Hassim, on Thursday paid a significant visit to the Budiope FC camp, injecting a crucial boost into the team’s preparations for the highly anticipated MTN Busoga Masaza Cup football tournament opener. The visit comes just days before Budiope FC faces off against Bukono on Saturday, July 12th, 2025.
During his visit, Magogo demonstrated his commitment to local sports development by donating an assortment of essential equipment. This included 10 Zakayo balls, 20 pairs of boots, and training bibs, vital resources for the team’s ongoing drills.
Beyond the equipment, the MP also contributed UGX 1 million to help facilitate the team’s immediate preparations, underlining his desire to ensure Budiope FC is well-resourced. He passionately urged the players to compete with determination and play for a decisive win.
The crucial opening match is set to be a grand affair, hosted at Irundu Primary School in Buyende district. Adding to the prestige of the event, the Kyabazinga of Busoga himself is slated to preside over the ceremonial kick-off, marking the official start of the tournament.
The fixture against Bukono carries particular significance for Budiope FC. The two sides last met in the quarter-finals of the previous season’s tournament at Bugembe, where Bukono emerged victorious with a convincing 2-0 win. This historical context fuels Budiope’s current ambition for revenge.
Eager to avenge their past defeat and secure a strong start to their campaign, Budiope has meticulously assembled a team they believe is capable of achieving their goals.
With the timely and substantial support from their area MP, Magogo Moses Hassim, Budiope FC now possesses the enhanced confidence and resources needed to launch a formidable challenge in the upcoming tournament.
