KIIRA COLLEGE BUTIKI: Sam Jumbwike appointed to lead KICOBA elections committee to oversee association’s 2026 polls

The Kiira College Butiki Old Boys Association (KICOBA) has appointed a five-member Elections Committee to organize and supervise its forthcoming 2026 leadership elections.

In a notice issued on June 17, the association’s Executive Committee announced the appointment of the team tasked with ensuring that the electoral process is conducted in a transparent, fair, credible and orderly manner in accordance with the association’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

The committee will be chaired by Samuel Jumbwike (1999-2004), with Daniel Opolot (2002-2005) serving as General Secretary. Other members include John Isabirye (1990-1996) as Legal Advisor, Simon Byenek Ogwal (1991-1994) and Daniel Muttu Obol (2002-2005).

The announcement was made by KICOBA General Secretary Davies Rwabu, who said the committee had been entrusted with managing all aspects of the electoral process ahead of the association’s next elections.

“The Committee has been constituted to oversee and manage the electoral process for the forthcoming KICOBA elections, ensuring that the exercise is conducted in a transparent, fair, credible and orderly manner in accordance with the Association’s Constitution and Electoral Guidelines,” the notice stated.

The association thanked the committee members for accepting the responsibility and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver a successful electoral process.

Further details regarding the electoral roadmap, nomination procedures, election guidelines and key dates are expected to be announced by the committee in the coming weeks.

Speaking shortly after his appointment, committee chairman Samuel Jumbwike pledged to uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency throughout the electoral process.

In a light-hearted remark that drew attention among members, Jumbwike said the committee would organize “the first transparent, fair, credible and orderly election in the history of Uganda.”

While the comment was widely interpreted as humorous, it underscored the committee’s commitment to conducting an election that inspires confidence among members of the Kiira College Butiki Old Boys Association.

The undated forthcoming elections are expected to attract significant interest from members of the alumni association as they choose leaders who will steer KICOBA’s activities and development agenda over the coming years.

KICOBA brings together former students of Kiira College Butiki and has played an important role in supporting the school’s development and strengthening networking among alumni both in Uganda and abroad.
