Namutumba District Local Government has officially launched the rehabilitation of two roads in Ivukula and Bulange Sub-counties.
The District Engineer, Eng. Harriet Babita, while addressing residents during a meeting at Nawandyo Trading Center in Bulange Sub-county, disclosed that the district will rehabilitate a 14.35 km road stretching from Nawansagwa through Bugobi to Kyabakaile at a cost of UGX 198 Million.
Eng. Babita explained that the engagement meetings with residents and stakeholders are intended to promote transparency and keep the community informed ahead of the rehabilitation works, as road maintenance remains a shared responsibility.
“We are going to rehabilitate more roads in the district to enhance connectivity and ease transport,” she stated.
“We face a challenge: when we rehabilitate these roads, heavy trucks transporting sand damage them within a short period. Additionally, some of you drag your ox-ploughs along the road. I therefore call upon all of us to take collective responsibility in ensuring that these roads are maintained,” she added.
In attendance were Deputy RDC Dorothy Natambi,Isabirye Musomesa who represented Hon. Princess Persis Namuganza, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Labour Officer, Forestry Officer, District Roads Inspector, Hon. Nakisita Betty, the representative of Hon. Joel Waiswa, District Chairperson Mukisa David Kalulu Mulondo, District Speaker Wakudumira Basangwa, LC3 Chairpersons of Bulange and Bugobi, and other stakeholders.

The Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Waiswa Paul, called on the community to collaborate with leaders to ensure the effective implementation of government programmes.
“Community, when you have any concerns regarding the roads, please contact the District Engineer, Harriet Babita. She will respond. She is here to serve you,” Waiswa Paul said.
