Busoga Masaza Cup to Resume October 28 After Hooliganism Suspension

The MTN Busoga Masaza Cup will resume on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after organisers suspended the tournament over escalating hooliganism and security concerns.

In a statement, the tournament’s organising committee informed stakeholders and participating chiefdoms of the decision to restart the competition, paving the way for a return to action across several venues in the Busoga sub-region.

The suspension had raised concerns about the safety of players, officials and supporters, with organisers expected to prioritise security as the tournament resumes.

Four matches will headline Wednesday’s fixtures, with Bunhole Bunanhumba taking on Butembe at Bugadde Primary School, while Bulamogi face Buzaaya at Namwiwa Primary School.

Elsewhere, Bunha will meet Bukono at Wembley Ground, while Budiope take on Bugabula at Baligeya Memorial Secondary School.

The action continues on Thursday, October 29, with Bukooli Bugiri hosting Bugweri at Bukooli College. Busiki will also face Bukooli Namayingo at Kisiki College.

Two more matches are scheduled for Saturday, October 31, when Kigulu take on Bunhole Bunanhumba at Ssaza Ground, while Luuka face Bulamogi at Busalaamu Primary School.

The resumption is a crucial moment for the tournament, which brings together chiefdom teams in a competition that attracts passionate supporters from across Busoga.

However, maintaining discipline and ensuring the safety of all participants will be central to the successful continuation of the championship.

The organising committee’s decision to resume the tournament places renewed responsibility on teams, supporters and match officials to uphold sportsmanship and avoid incidents that could threaten the competition’s future.

With the fixtures now confirmed, attention turns to the pitch as participating chiefdoms prepare to resume their campaigns in the MTN Busoga Masaza Cup.
